Welcome to the Dorval Lab

for Biologically-Derived Materials & Devices!

We work at the intersection of materials science, chemical engineering, synthetic biology

and nanotechnology.

The group is led by

Prof. Noémie-Manuelle Dorval Courchesne, in the Department of Chemical Engineering at McGill University.

We combine biological structures with organic molecules and inorganic materials.  Using micro-organisms, proteins, and other biological scaffolds, we aim at assembling materials with novel physical properties, and at constructing functional devices.

We are especially interested in developing novel nanobiomaterials for energy storage and harvesting, bio-energy devices, and environmental and biological sensors.
